According to a national study, high innovation capacity and high entrepreneurship in a community result in higher productivity, higher job growth and higher wage growth.

An average of 23% of the Humboldt population has earned a bachelor's degree or higher, giving us a higher than the average high for innovation capacity.

This high innovation means we are creative and likely to generate lots of new products and services.

That innovation capacity could be lost without someone to take the new products and services to market. People can take their ideas anywhere to start a business. We want them to start their business here, so that the jobs and industry grow in our community. And that is happening. Humboldt County has a steadily increasing new firm creation rate.
